2011 Wine List

After hours of research and tastings, we have put together a beautiful portfolio that includes an eclectic mix of juices from all over the great planet.  We also have a great selection of local wines (and beers) highlighted by our own blend, Blue Ridge.

We are also planning on doing wine tastings and wine dinners this summer.  Most notably, we will designate Wednesday’s as our “Wine Wednesdays”.  This will mean discounts on wines, showcasing new labels, and paired three course dinners.  Each course will be paired with a tasting of wine.  This will be a great opportunity to try some new flavors and get some wine for home or gifts at a discounted price.  We hope that you will support this great venture.

Here is  our 2011 opening wine list.  Notice the great new additions like Grgich Hills, Angeline, Altosur, Blue Ridge, and Hope to name just a few.

Opening Weekend for Maples and the Tavern at Olde Mill

We are very excited about the new season beginning soon!  This is going to be season of good food, good wine and good times.

Chris and I a currently planning for all the great events for 2011 like Easter Brunch, Derby Day, Mother’s Day Brunch and July 4th festivities.  Let the fun begin!

I have been working on the finishing touches of our 7 day a week Tavern menu.  I think the changes will provide more choice for our everyday patrons.  Of course, we will also have our daily specials as always.  You will always find something new to try. 

The Maples menu is going to be far more creative this year.  We are not going with a set menu, rather having a fresh new selection of dishes for you each week.  And don’t fret, we are going to have our two staples, the Maples fillet & the pork tenderloin with maple whipped sweet potatoes, every week.  We want to give you a little more variety along side these two classics.  This will also allow us to give you more seasonal seafood and produce.  You know we are always in search of the freshest possible ingredients for every creation that make.  You can rest assured of that fact.

This week’s Maples menu will include:

Lump Crab Cakes with Lobster Sauce

Seared Salmon over Orzo Pasta

Ashley Farms Chicken with Mushroom Risotto

Grilled Angus Sirloin with Goat Cheese and Truffle Macaroni

Portobello Salad with Feta, Tomato, and Shrimp

Of course we will have our popular Almond Crusted Brie, Marinated Shrimp Cocktail & Butcher’s Plate as apps.

Be sure and try Chef J.C.’s potato and asparagus soup.  Delicious!

Of course, you will want to wash it all down with a glass of our house wine, Blue Ridge.  Locallly grown wine blended by yours truelyto pair with our food and mountain lifestyle.

 I will be working hard on our wine list, too.  We will be bringing in some exciting new wines.   Chris Rasco is bringing in some great local beers.  I can’t wait to have one while watching the Sweet Sixteen in the Tavern on one of the flat screens.
