I have had the pleasure of being a chef in the Southeast my entire twenty year career.  I have also had a great relationship with Southern Foods in Greensboro, NC.  When I lived in Greensboro, I would drive my truck right up to the pick-up window and get my daily supplies for the restaurant.  Now days, they deliver to me every week here on the Blue Ridge.  I depend on them for much of most of my seafood, meats, and specialty items.  There really is no other company like Southern Foods.

My rep, Matt French, lets me know about what fish we can get off the coast of Virginia and North Carolina each week.  Last week it was Spanish Mackerel, this week it may be littleneck clams or grouper.  One thing is for sure, it will be fresh and tasty.  I also get my Angus tenderloin, Angus hot dogs, and hamburger from Southern.  This is the best meat you can buy, in my opinion.  You can really taste the quality when you sink your teeth into one of our famous Tavern burgers.  That delicious applewood bacon and Irish porter cheddar on our burger also comes from Southern.  The cheeses they carry will make your head spin.  I could spend a month talking about their cheese selections and still not give it justice.  Most of these cheeses you can’t find within a hundred mile radius of this area.  Many of my customers order their cheese through me so that they can enjoy them at home.  I am always happy to help if you need any specialty cheeses brought in to Olde Mill.

Camp Groundhog Fun

We are having so much fun this week with all the kids.  They are having fun playing tennis with George, hitting golf balls with Bo, and swimming with Paige.  This is always one of the most anticipated weeks by the Olde Mill staff.  Camp Groundhog is all about enjoying the smiles and giggles of our little ones.  The hay rides, cooking classes, and dips in the cool river waters are things the juniors get to experience.  It is a great time that they will surely remember for years to come.  There are still spots open  for our next session, so if your kids missed the first week, be sure to sign up for the second.

Just to update you on all the things coming up soon, Wine Wednesday continues to grow.  Come enjoy the best value around, three courses of wine and food, paired to enhance your experience.  Discounted wines by the bottle have also been a big hit with all the Wine Wednesday participants.

Seafood Feast is tomorrow and every other Friday this summer.  The menus change but are always full of choices of the freshest seafood on the planet.  No one leaves hungry on this night!

Our Independence Day celebration is next Saturday.  This is the biggest day of the year for Olde Mill.  We will be serving all the cook out favorites and grooving to live music.  The whole family will enjoy the festivities.

Summer is in full swing and we have lots to do and see here at Olde Mill Resort.  Wednesday’s have been a great mid-week respite

for many of our guests.  That’s because it is “Wine Wednesday” and that means great food and wine pairings at a great price.  What a great way to explore our ever growing wine list and have the wines paired with tasty dishes that are sure to leave you smiling.  This Friday is our Italian themed dinner specials.  A family favorite!  We have all your favorites fr0m meatballs to shrimp scampi.  Next week we will be hosting our little ones at Camp Groundhog.  This is a week of golf, tennis, swimming, eating and so much more.  What a fun time for us all.  Next Friday is our “Seafood Feast” that is always a big hit.  Don’t forget that July 4th is just around the corner.  We will have lots of live music, great food, and fireworks.  Make your plans to spend some time in the cool air these coming days at Olde Mill!
