Wine Down Thursday

We are always growing and evolving with our patrons here at Olde Mill. It is part of what keeps things so fresh and exciting here. It has come to our attention that many of our wine fans were not able to make it up to Maples Restaurant on Wednesday, leaving them a bit saddened for they miss our Wine Wednesday pairing menus. But after careful consideration and deliberation, we have devised the “Wine Down Thursdays”. All the great food and wine, just not smack dab in the middle of the week. We are very aware that many of our guests and neighbors like to make that escape to the Blue Ridge on Thursday to prolong their weekends. This will play right into that mindset. Now you can start your weekend off properly (and early) with our three course pairings for either red or white wines. This has been a real crowd pleaser over the years, and now we see the opportunity to share this special night with even more gourmands.

So, those of you who regularly visit us on Wednesdays, reset your internal wine clocks back a day to Thursday so you won’t miss a single delicious bite or sip. And for those weekend warriors who haven’t made it to a Wine Wednesday yet, plan to extend your weekends by a day at our Wine Down Thursdays”.

Always Something Fun at Olde Mill Resort

by »

We have been off to an exciting start in 2013.  Many of you joined us for our Easter brunch on Sunday.  The compliments were abundant and so were the choices.  It is always a fan favorite, but this brunch seemed to be the best yet according to several of our guests.  We are always trying to make the experience better than the last here at Olde Mill. Thanks for all the kind words.

That was not the only thing we had going on at Maples Restaurant over the weekend.  We had the producers of NBC news here Saturday filming in our dining room.  None other than Ann Curry herself was here to conduct an interview with a local family.  This will air later in the month in primetime on “Rock Central”.  Details are to come.  It was magical how they turned our restaurant into a film studio.  It was an all day affair which included the staff dining with us for lunch.  Often times we have a difficult time finding the words to describe our cuisine here, but Ann summed it up quite simply as, “Everything is so fresh tasting.”  That is what we set out to do for every single guest at Olde Mill.  We have many types of cuisine, but the thread that ties them all together is the quality and freshness.

Opening night was Wednesday, and that also included our flights of red and white wine pairings.  The new menu was well received by our diners.  The local mountain trout, pork osso bucco, and petite filet were the most popular items.  We will continue to update and reinvent our menus to suit the taste of the people that matter the most, you!

We have lots of great events to tell you about, like the Mother’s Day Buffet and Musical, Seafood Feast on the first Friday of June, July, and August, and our 5k Fun Run to benefit the Laurel Fork Volunteer Fire Department and Relay For Life.  That’s just the tip of the iceberg so stay in touch as we continue to add more exciting events in 2013.
